The School of Chemical Engineering, UiTM Cawangan Pulau Pinang (PKK UiTMCPP), is committed to giving students thorough industry exposure so that learning is more holistic and grounded in the real world. In line with UiTM’s Education 5.0 Agenda, one of the strategic thrusts it emphasizes is the “Industry in the Campus” concept, which encourages direct industry involvement in the university’s academic ecosystem.
To achieve this, PKK UiTMCPP entered a strategic partnership through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with EMZI Holding Sdn Bhd to set up an industrial research laboratory at UiTMCPP named EMZI NANO-CORE. The lab serves not only as a research center but also as an industry-based learning platform, giving students hands-on experience in nanotechnology and its industrial applications.
As part of this program, students taking CEV631 (Leadership and Professional Ethics for Engineers) attended an exclusive industry lecture with EMZI Holding Sdn Bhd. The program took place at EMZI’s factory in Kedah Halal Park, Sungai Petani, with a session on company operations at EMZI’s headquarters, SP Plaza, Sungai Petani.
Highlights for the students:
Strengthening university–industry links: this initiative is a significant step in strengthening the nexus between university and industry and in preparing graduates for the challenges of the working world. It is hoped that this collaboration will lead to more academic–industry programs, helping UiTM continue to lead in producing competent professionals who meet the needs of modern industry.
