From 18 to 23 December 2024, six researchers from UiTM Cawangan Pulau Pinang, including undergraduate and PhD students, took part in a research program at the Synchrotron Light Research Institute (SLRI), Thailand. The research focused on micro-swimmer materials for treating water pollution, using high-intensity X-ray technology, specifically XAS (X-ray absorption spectrometer) instruments.
The program aimed to build the researchers’ understanding of the microscopic properties of materials for developing green and sustainable technologies. Activities included experiments, technical briefings and collaborative discussions with SLRI experts. The involvement opens opportunities for high-impact journal publications and strategic regional collaboration, strengthening UiTM’s reputation as a center of research excellence.
